The breath of God

When we talk about the breath of God, the very first thing that should reflect on our mind is the making of man.

Genesis 2:7
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul

This was the very first place the breath of God was mentioned in the Bible. If not for the breath of God men wouldn’t have been in existence.

The breath of God is so powerful that ever since God has breathed into the very first man to give him life, it was never written in the Bible that he breathed into someone else to give life. There’s a wide range of difference between giving life and restoring life. God breathed directly into the nostrils of Adam who has never lived before. When a man has lived once, life is restored.

The breath of God regenerates in man. It’s so sufficient that it passes from generations to generation. God doesn’t need to breathe into a new born baby before he starts living, No, he has done the breathing ever since the beginning of the earth.

The life he breathed into Adam is still the one that supports our lives till this present time. Do you know how many years ago?

It is important to note that only man has life through the breath of God, every other living things created were giving life through the word of God.

What does the breath of God possess and discharge?

  • It posses and gives life.

Showed when God breathed into the nostrils of Adam to give him life. {Gen 2 vs 7}

  • It carries Fire.

Job said His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth {Job 41 :21}

  • The breath of God slays

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked {Isaiah 11 : 4}

  • God’s breath resurrects.

Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live {Ezekiel 37 : 4 – 14}

  • The breath of God consumes

By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed. {Job 4:9}

  • God’s breath discovers

Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. {Psalms 18:15}

There’s absolutely nothing God’s breath cannot do in a man’s life. So cry for more of his breath while praying. It is said in Matthew 7:7 that ”ask and it shall be given unto you” so what are you waiting for?
