Seek God’s Kingdom First

Permit me to start by welcoming you to a year filled with great exploits. We all shall make good exploits this year In Jesus name.

We’re pleased to announce to you that the mandate for the year is : SEEKING FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

This is a statement commonly known but rarely obeyed by so called Christians. The spirit of God thereby inspired me to write an article to explain how His Kingdom can be sought first. The bible text is Matthew 6 and emphasis is laid on the 33rd verse.

Matthew 6:33 KJV : But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33 Amp : But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

The Additions

We live in a world where majority seeks what Jesus called “THE ADDITIONS” than the Kingdom of God. {Read verses 25 to 33 for better understanding of THE ADDITIONS}.

Jesus was teaching His disciples and followers {Christians, Sons Of God} in our bible reference and He advised us to set our priorities first on the The Kingdom of Our Father and His righteousness rather than the was a go straight to discuss about how God’s kingdom can be sought first.

How Can we Seek God’s kingdom first?

John 3:3 ; Jesus answered him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a person is born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified], he cannot [ever] see and experience the kingdom of God.

  1. The license to seeing and experiencing the Kingdom of God is Salvation. You’ll only waste time seeking when you’ve not received the license to see. Read Salvation
  2. Love God : Everyone seems to care first for what they love most. You begin to seek the Kingdom of God first when you truly Love the King in the Kingdom. Remember the great commandment. Matthew 22:37.
  3. Through prayer : In our bible reference, Jesus taught us how to pray and what marveled me was that Praying for God’s Kingdom to come preceded every other prayer apart from worshipping our father. So even in the place of prayer, His Kingdom should come first.
  4. In your Daily Schedule : it is quite common for Christians to place spiritual activities {e.g Personal Bible study} after other daily activities that if it is included at all. But God is instructing us to place this things first. This doesn’t sound like a way of seeking God’s Kingdom first but many times when I study the word before going out, it takes over my thoughts because I tend to meditate on the words all through the day. Note, this is Christ’s way of doing. { His attitude and righteousness}.
  5. In finances : myriads of people don’t pay tithes, Some don’t plan for their tithes, they execute other plans before they remember tithes. They make self needs more important than God’s Kingdom. Majority only pay tithes and spend the rest on mundane things. They don’t support evangelism, widows, orphans, etc. If I’m to start naming, I won’t end. Seek God’s Kingdom first {with your resources} and watch how other things you strive to get will be added unto you.
  6. Time : This goes out majorly to Sunday Church goers. They only plan to fellowship in the church on Sundays. And it isn’t funny that majority of them have little or no personal fellowship with God. Many will even push church aside on market days. How about you seek God’s Kingdom first with your time this year. I’m not saying you shouldn’t go to work but always plan to attend weekly services. If your job does not allow you to serve God, my brother, that’s not God’s purpose for you. He won’t give you an occupation that will hinder your service. Also, plan to serve in the Church. Find a unit to work in, remember We’re discusing ways to Seek His Kingdom First.
  7. Service: This should fall under TIME but I’ll like to Centre it mostly on Evangelism and working in God’s vineyard. Wherever God rules is His Kingdom, so when you reach out to souls, you invite God to rule over the soul and so doing, you’ve sought God’s Kingdom to come in the person’s life.
  8. In Conversation : Do you finish talking about life and other things before noting God?. If yes, thats not “Kingdomic” enough. Let your conversation begin with the BEGINNING. And even if it warrants that you discuss other issues, let it have a touch of godliness.

These are the ways the Spirit of God has stirred me to write on. Definitely, there are other ways to seek God’s Kingdom that are still unknown to me, but I press further until I have full knowledge and understanding of these ways.

Do you know other ways or seeking God’s Kingdom first?. Why not share it with us in the comment box?.

Remain blessed even as we seek and await the additions in abundance In Jesus name.
