What is Peer Pressure?

If you’re a teen or youth, please read and follow this to the end

In this fallen world and generation, several teens and youths are being pressurized into some acts they didn’t pray themselves into when they were much younger. This is why it is important we discuss the topic — PEER PRESSURE.

What is Peer Pressure?

Peer Pressure is a driving force or counsel from a person {friend or not} of same age group or social group.

If you’ve been once counselled, encouraged or influenced to do a particular thing which you’ve not done before or probably don’t like doing, then you’ve once been pressurized by a peer.

When we talk about encouragement or influence, it doesn’t necessarily mean in words it can be in action. Someone can be influenced by his peer’s lifestyle even without uttering any word.

Peer pressure is double-faced

When the term — Peer pressure is used, it is often misunderstood for a negative statement. However, that’s just one of it’s face or arm.

Peer pressure can either be Positive or Negative. The positve one results to the betterment of the person being pressurized while the negative one demoralizes the subject.

Positive Peer Pressure can include; Pressure on reading and studying, praying, learning, living a moral and godly life etc.

While Negative pressure can include: Pressures on immoralities {Debauchery}, smoking, corruption, rituals, malpractice, etc.

God’s {Biblical} stand against Peer pressure.

Psalm 1:1 KJV
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

The major negative counsels, encouragements and influences are from ungodly peers. Hardly will you get influenced negatively by godly and God fearing peers.

If Blessed is the Psalm 1;1 man then Cursed is the man who is not.

Here is a list of scriptural text on peer pressure.

Note : We’ll be having a series of Life experiences on peer pressure.
