Our prayer is unto God – our Father. And it’s impossible to ascend unto Christ in Heaven without going through the Way, Jesus.
- We pray in Jesus’ name in order to get access to the Father (John14:6).
- At the name of Jesus, demons bow (Phil 2:10). It’s important to know that demons live amongst us.
- We must pray according to His will (John 14:13-14).
Let’s use this analogy:
I am a staunch Christian who doesn’t take alcoholic drinks. One day, someone (say a friend) goes to my father in my name, asking for a bottle of alcohol from him.
What reaction would you expect from my dad?
He’ll put my friend on hold, then enquire if that friend truly came to him on my behalf or blatantly refute that request immediately, knowing that I don’t appreciate alcohol and also wouldn’t send anyone to get one.
THREE SECRETS TO ANSWERED PRAYERS
1. EVANGELISM (John 15:16, 1John 5:14):
Having abounding fruits in soul winning is very important. You should be involved in giving, going, groaning and grooming souls.
2. CONFIDENCE AND COMPASSION IN PRAYER (1John 5:14,15):
Believe and be focused in your prayers. Avoid doubt. Heartfelt and consistent prayers too cannot be overlooked by God.
We build confidence when we pray with God’s word – His will. He honours His word more than His name. And this obsession is seen in The Lord’s Prayer: “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” – (Matthew 6:10).
“… Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”
(Matthew 6:10).
Action point: Study the Word of God daily and Pray always.
3. ASK FOR WHAT WILL GLORIFY GOD (James 4:3):
Ensure that your request, when granted, glorifies God. If your petition is for your own glory or as a result of greed, then be sure there’ll be no answer.
The end result of anything we ask for is so that God can be glorified in His Son (John 14:13).
He knows and answers only what we NEED, not our WANT (Psalm 46:1, Philippians 4:19).
Even when God delays or doesn’t answer prayers which might be aligned with His word, ensure you understand that He would rather be glorified in your sufferings (John 11:4, 9:3, 1Corinth 12:9).
